This story is essential for all employees who are working from home. The working from home concept came before this pandemic, but it has become more prevalent in this era because of the pandemic. These are some points to follow which is following me as a Software Engineer.

Establish a Fixed Schedule

The first thing, You should establish your working hours at home. If your regular hours are 8 am to 5 pm in the office, make sure that you stick to these hours when you’re working from home. You must ensure that to finish all the necessary work on that time. Then there, you should have a fixed schedule.

You can start by sending an alarm on your phone an hour before beginning work. setting the alarm for when you end work the hour before work

Prepare with a Proper Workstation

When you’re working from home, of course, not everyone has the luxury of having an extra room that you can convert into your home office, but it doesn’t mean that you still can’t have a proper workstation and trust me your bed or your couch is not a good place for work.

You can set up your workstation near the window so that you have access to natural lighting. Your chair should be comfortable enough to sit for about eight hours. And make sure that your table is free from clutter and only has the necessary materials required for you to work. This environment will give your mind the illusion that you’re in an office-like environment and force you to be more productive.

Planning your to-do list

It would be best if you started planning your to-do list for the day. That allows you to organize your tasks based on their urgency and importance. Planning helps you to know the tasks at hand. It will usually keep you more motivated to finish them. It also lets you see at a glance which tasks you should prioritize at the start of the day.

Then no, wasting with social media should not be on your to-do list. Make sure you keep your list short so that it doesn’t seem too overwhelming.

Set your family members down and set some ground rules

Not everyone in our family may understand what we are doing. They may think that working from home means working without a strict routine.

Imagine being in an online meeting and somebody asking the help. Your mother can ask you for household work. So to prevent such incidents from happening, it’s best to set your family members down and set some ground rules.

Let them know your working hours and how you’re trying your best to keep to it so that you can end work on time and enjoy some family time with them afterward.

How many of you snack more frequently

Unfortunately, this isn’t a good practice, and you should try to exercise some self-control. Overeating can cause you to feel more sluggish.

You wouldn’t be productive at all when you’re suffering from a food coma.

Don’t forget to drink lots of water as well.

Definite time to go to Sleep

You save a lot of time on traveling and other activities. It means that you get more time to watch your favorite tv shows overnight. It’s 3 am, and we’re struggling to turn everything off so that we can prepare to sleep; This often leads to us not getting at least six hours of sleep. You should get at least six hours of rest and stick to it. While it may be difficult at the start, your body would thank you for doing it.

We all need breaks once in a while to take our minds off the strenuous work we’re doing. If you have an allocated lunch break of one hour, make sure that you take the full hour to eat and refresh yourself; This allows you to relieve some stress and give yourself some time to recover from the work you’ve been doing.

When we take breaks sometimes, we wake up with a pounding headache, and we tell ourselves. It’s okay, and I’m not going to the office so I can still work from home. Stop when you experience symptoms like that. It’s your body’s way of telling you that you need to rest and by rest, we mean going back to Sleep, not proceeding to turn on your computer to start doing work. If you can apply for sick leave at your company, do it. When you’re suffering, your productivity level will never be as high as when you’re well-rested, and remember it is not your fault for falling ill, so don’t blame yourself for it’s normal, especially if you’ve been working hard.

Exercises in your morning routine

It will be constructed and help boost your productivity as they are known to help strengthen your focus, improve self-awareness and reduce your stress levels after a long day of work.

Your mind and body are both going to be tired. What better way to end the day is to meditate at the end of the day. Just close your eyes and clear your mind and meditate for about five to ten minutes. It will make you feel much better because you’re relieving your body of any stress, and once you’re done, you can proceed with your after-work activities in a better mood.
